Little Kids Rock Extends Revolutionary Music Program and Free Instruments to Over 550 Newark and Jersey City Children

National nonprofit donates 300 instruments and curriculum to the Newark and Jersey City Public Schools with support from the The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey and the Turrell Fund

Montclair, NJ, Oct. 22, 2009 Little Kids Rock (LKR), a national nonprofit music organization that revitalizes and restores music education in public schools through teacher trainings and instrument donations, today announced that it will expand its program to 11 sites in the Newark and Jersey City Public Schools, bringing free instruments and an innovative music education program to over 550 students. On October 24-25 at Abington Avenue Elementary School, Little Kids Rock will instruct participating teachers in its unique curriculum and provide participating schools with 300 brand-new Fender® guitars, along with software and materials. Teachers who complete the workshop will begin leading classes this school year, reaching over 550 students in Newark and Jersey City.

This Little Kids Rock guitar workshop is presented in the Newark and Jersey City Public Schools through generous support from The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey and the Turrell Fund.

The following Newark Public Schools will benefit from the Little Kids Rock program and instrument donation: Abington Avenue Elementary School, Luis Munoz Marin Middle School, North Star Academy Charter School, Olive Street School 104, Weequahic High School, Wilson Avenue School.

The following Jersey City Public Schools will benefit from the Little Kids Rock program and instrument donation: Alfred E. Zampella No. 27 Elementary School, Ezra L Nolan No. 40 Elementary School, Frank R. Conwell Middle School #4, Public Elementary School No. 29, Whitney M. Young, Jr. Public School No. 15.
